Yoga asanas help in focusing on our strength, mobility, flexibility and the coordination of the muscles. Yoga also helps in correcting the posture of the body. However, people who are starting at the fitness game or are fitness enthusiasts, always focus more on reducing the weight of the body or in correcting their posture. In the midst of doing the same, they often forget to stretch their back muscles. Back and chest strength also form an integral part of the body’s posture and flexibility. Anshuka Parwani, fitness trainer to several Bollywood celebrities such as Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Rakul Preet Singh and Ananya Panday shared a list of yoga asanas that can be performed in order to ace the back game.

Anshuka shared an informative video on her Instagram profile where she spoke of the dos and don’ts that are to be followed in order to stretch and strengthen the back and the upper chest. Anshuka wrote that hunched back and shoulders are a clear sign of bad posture and it can be corrected through a range of yoga asanas. With a fitness partner for company, Anshuka demonstrated the yoga asanas that are to be performed in order to stretch our back and chest properly, and achieve the posture that we are striving for.

The three yoga asanas that are to be performed, are – Bhujangasana, Gomukhasana and Ustrasana, in the video, Anshuka’s fitness partner can be seen lying down on his chest and then stretching his upper body upwards in the cobras position. In the later part of the video, he can be seen sitting with his legs crossed and his back straight and holding his one hard with his other at the back. In the end of the video, he can be seen sitting on his knees and then stretching his chest backwards to hold his feet.

With the video, Anshuka also pointed out the health benefits of performing these asanas. “The correct posture can help improve your spine health, support your muscles, avoid aches and pains and also improve blood flow. Here are some Yoga Asanas that can help you ace your back game and stretch and strengthen your chest and upper back,” she wrote.
