Jammu and Kashmir logs 26 Covid cases, one death

A Covid-19 related death was recorded in Jammu and Kashmir after eight days on Sunday while also witnessing 26 fresh Covid-19 cases, an official health bulletin said.

The Union territory had registered a death related to the virus on March 4.

The third wave of Covid, which peaked in January, has now ebbed with double-digit cases mostly since February 24. As many as 35 patients recovered, prompting the active cases to drop to 242.

The officials said 38,793 tests were conducted in the past 24 hours in the UT.

Kashmir division recorded 16 cases and Jammu 10 cases and a death.

Of the 20 districts, 14 recorded zero infections while six witnessed single-digit cases.

Health officials said that of the 4,838 beds dedicated for Covid patients, only one is occupied in J&K.

The government’s daily health bulletin also said that 7,410 vaccine doses were administered taking overall doses administered in the UT to cross 2.169 crore.

The overall number of people who have recovered reached 4,48,456 while the recovery rate has reached 98.89%. Since the pandemic started, the overall cases in J&K have reached 4,53,448 and the death toll has stayed at 4,750.
