India Thwarts Coordinated Missile Strike, Silences Pakistan’s Air Defences in Precision Blitz

New Delhi, May 8, 2025 — In a remarkable display of operational readiness and tactical dominance, India has thwarted a highly coordinated missile strike from Pakistan aimed at 15 major cities, and in its response, destroyed vital components of Pakistan’s air defence infrastructure.

Indian military intelligence intercepted chatter about an imminent strike days before the launch, prompting the activation of nationwide defence protocols. Early on Tuesday, Pakistani missile systems began launching projectiles from multiple locations, including Bahawalpur, Gilgit, and southern Sindh. The missiles, believed to be Shaheen-II and Abdali-class short-range ballistic systems, were intercepted within minutes by India’s networked missile defence.

A senior official from the Indian Integrated Defence Command (IDC) described the attack as a “multi-pronged strike intended to create panic, destroy civilian infrastructure, and provoke escalation.” But India’s response was swift and technological — interceptors launched from both static and mobile units neutralised all threats in real-time.

Following the failed strike, India initiated Operation Vajrapaat, a rapid precision strike mission targeting Pakistan’s air defence systems, launch control centres, and strategic radar arrays. The operation employed air-launched cruise missiles, loitering munitions, and electromagnetic jamming systems, disabling Pakistan’s key aerial assets without entering civilian zones.

Footage released by Indian Armed Forces shows precision hits on air defence grids near Rawalpindi, radar installations near Muridke, and mobile missile units near Jacobabad. The destruction of these systems has reportedly left large swathes of Pakistani airspace exposed.

The international community is urging both nations to step back from the brink. However, India’s leadership remains firm. “India will not initiate conflict, but any aggression will be answered with clarity and force,” stated National Security Advisor Meera Raghavan.

With border states on alert and diplomatic hotlines active, South Asia once again finds itself in the grip of military tension — but with India clearly in control of the skies.
