Akshay Kumar’s upcoming film Bachchhan Paandey is an action-adventure and unlike what the name suggests, it does not feature any Bachchan or any Pandey. However, during a recent interaction, director Farhad Samji revealed that it originally did. A deleted scene in the film featured actors Abhishek Bachchan and Chunky Pandey. In a press conference, Akshay had joked that the inspiration for the film’s title came at a party for his film Housefull 4, where he saw actors Abhishek and Chunky standing next to each other. However, in a subsequent interview, he clarified it was a joke.

Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Akshay Kumar said, “It was just a joke. The actual inspiration for the title was the name of my character from Tashan. In that film, my character was called Bachchan Pandey.” However, adding to that, the film’s director Farhad Samji revealed that they had planned to incorporate pseudo cameos from Abhishek and Chunky in the film.

Farhad said, “A deleted scene had these two, but only in the form of their pictures. Kriti and Arshad’s characters were looking for Bachchhan Paandey and they ask a young kid if they had seen him. The kid said yes and pulled out a film magazine with pictures of Abhishek Bachchan and Chunky Pandey. But we didn’t put this scene in the film finally.”

Talking about the film, Akshay had earlier said, “It’s always a pleasure to collaborate with Sajid Nadiadwala (producer). He and I go back years, we were friends long before we became actor-producer. And one can only imagine what fun it is to work with friends. Bachchhan Paandey is my tenth film with him and audiences can expect ten times the entertainment with this one.”

Bachchhan Paandey releases in theatres for Holi on March 18. Earlier, it was scheduled to release on Christmas, 2020 but was postponed due to coronavirus pandemic.
