Zelensky’s ‘peace’ message to Putin as Russian forces advance into Mariupol

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky appealed for peace and urged for talks as Russian forces advanced into Mariupol. Zelensky said ‘negotiations are not easy and pleasant, but they are necessary because it’s about life’. Russian forces have pushed deeper into the besieged and battered port city of Mariupol. Zelensky said the siege of Mariupol will go down in history for what he’s calling war crimes by Russia’s military. “I am sure you understand that negotiations are not easy and pleasant, but they are necessary because it’s about life.
