Shefali Shah and Vidya Balan are preparing for the release of their upcoming film Jalsa. Though the film is an investigation thriller, some found the title too familiar and wondered if it’s about actor Amitabh Bachchan’s famous bungalow Jalsa. Vidya Balan was amused with the question and had a hilarious reaction ready for it. Shefali, who has shared screen space with Amitabh Bachchan in Waqt among other films, and Vidya, who worked with the veteran actor in Paa and Te3n, were asked if they had discussions with him about the title of the film. Both of them reacted in surprise, after which Vidya remembered a funny anecdote related to the question.

Shefali told Bollywood Hungama, “No but I read that somewhere,” and Vidya added, “yeah, that it’s a biopic on Mr Bachchan’s house. Can you believe it?” Vidya further recalled, “So when someone asked me ki ‘kya aapki film Mr Bachchan ke ghar ki bopic hai (is your film a biopic on Mr Bachchan’s house).’ To maine kaha us sawaal ke jawab ke liye aapko pratiksha karni padegi (I said you will have to wait for the answer to this question.” Vidya’s answer was a pun on Amitabh’s other bungalow, which is named Pratiksha.”

Both Vidya and Shefali broke into laughter, while the latter complimented her co-star on the joke. “That’s a very good one,” she said. Vidya added, “Because what do you say, how can it be the biopic of a house?” Shefali suggested to Vidya that she should have agreed with them that the movie is about Amitabh’s house.

Amitabh Bachchan has a bungalow named Pratiksha in Juhu, where his late parents Harivansh Rai Bachchan and Teji Bachchan used to stay. He currently lives with his family in a house named Jalsa, which is also located in Juhu. He has a third property in the same area, named Janak, which is mostly used for official gatherings.

Interestingly, Jalsa is also the name of a restaurant Shefali opened in Ahmedabad last year, followed by another outlet in Bengaluru last month. The actor, who revealed that Jalsa would also give space to carnival games, astrologer, and henna artists, said it will stay “true to its name” by offering a “quintessential Indian celebration.” Also Read: Shefali Shah’s new restaurant Jalsa has hand-painted walls, recipes from her kitchen. Shefali and Vidya’s movie Jalsa, directed by Suresh Triveni, revolves around the killing of a young girl and a news channel investigating it. While Shefali Shah plays the mother of the victim who refuses to give up on her daughter, Vidya plays a journalist who is looking into the story. The movie will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on March 18.
