Donald Trump’s recent statements about Greenland have sparked renewed interest in the role of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in the former president’s failed attempt to acquire the Arctic territory. According to Trump, Stoltenberg played a behind-the-scenes role in facilitating his plan, suggesting that the NATO chief was more supportive of the idea than previously known.
“I had conversations with many key figures, and Jens was certainly one of them,” Trump explained. “NATO had its interests in the region, and I believe there was support, at least on a strategic level, for the idea of acquiring Greenland.”
