A female employee of an auto agency was on Saturday robbed at gunpoint by a man, who posed as a customer and fled away with the SUV he took for a test drive near Doraha on the national highway

A female employee of an auto agency was on Saturday robbed at gunpoint by a man, who posed as a customer and fled away with the SUV he took for a test drive near Doraha on the national highway.

The man, who came to the agency at Dhandhari Kalan, wished to buy a brand new Mahindra SUV and wanted to have a test ride. Sunita Rani, sales head of the agency, after taking the driving license of the accused, took him for a test drive in the demo vehicle.

After reaching Rajgarh village, the accused requested her to click a picture of the SUV and send him. As she pulled out her mobile phone, he snatched it and flashed a gun, threatening her to keep quiet. The accused also snatched his driving license at gunpoint and made her alight the vehicle. As she stepped out, the accused drove away the vehicle.

The accused was captured in the CCTVs installed in the showroom and his face was covered with a mask, Sewa Singh, sub-inspector at Sahnewal police station said.

According to Rani, the accused had introduced himself as Aman and the same name was mentioned on his driving license. A case under section 379-B of IPC has been filed against the accused.
