A wanted gangster, who is involved in supplying illegal guns and other weapons in the Capital, was arrested with four pistols and over 30 bullets in Kamla Nehru Ridge Park in Civil Lines.

Deputy commissioner of police (special cell) Pramod Singh Kushwah said the accused, Danish alias Salman, a resident of Muzaffarnagar in UP, was listed as one of the top 10 wanted criminals by Meerut Police since February 2021 and has previously been involved in 19 cases of dacoity, robbery, attempt to murder and snatching in UP.

“He is wanted in two cases of robbery and theft in Khatauli (Muzaffarnagar). Another four cases of robbery and snatching in Delhi have been solved with his arrest,” he said.

The DCP further said they received information about Salman supplying illegal arms and ammunition to criminals in Delhi-NCR in the third week of February.

“On March 8, specific information was received that Salman is likely to come near Kamla Nehru Ridge Park to supply illegal weapons and ammunition to criminals of Delhi. On the basis of this information, our team laid a trap. He was arrested after a brief scuffle… A 7.65 mm pistol with five live cartridges, three single-shot pistols and 30 live cartridges of 8 mm were recovered from him,” he said.

”Efforts are on to apprehend his other associates and the source of the seized illegal weapons,” added the DCP.
