Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth calls Dhanush’s brother Selvaraghavan her ‘father figure’ as she wishes him on birthday

Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth has posted a sweet birthday wish for director Selvaraghavan, elder brother to her estranged husband Dhanush. Aishwaryaa, who announced her separation from Dhanush at the beginning of this year, took to her Instagram account to wish Selvaraghavan on his birthday. Sharing a picture of herself hugging the director, Aishwaryaa wrote that he plays many roles in her life. “Happy birthday my guru, friend, father figure and I can go on @selvaraghavan,” Aishwaryaa captioned the picture on Instagram Stories.

Selvaraghavan reshared Aishwaryaa’s message on his account, and called her his daughter. “Thank you my dear daughter,” he wrote, adding a face with hearts emoji.

Naane Varuven will mark the 4th collaboration between Dhanush and Selvaraghavan after Kadhal Kondein, Pudhupettai, and Mayakkam Enna. It will mark their first collaboration in almost a decade. Aishwaryaa and Dhanush announced their split in January this year after being together for 18 years. A statement they released on their social media accounts to reveal the news read, “18 years of togetherness as friends, couple, as parents and well-wishers to each other. The journey has been of growth, understanding, adjusting and adapting. Today we stand at a place where our paths separate.”

Speaking to Hindustan Times a month after the announcement, Aishwaryaa had said, “Love is a very generic emotion. It’s nothing to do with one human being or one personal thing. And as I evolve, the definition of love is also evolving with me”.
